I initially created these fonts as a personal project over the summer, and then released them for anyone to use for free. However, i still find myself working on them from time to time, and have started occasionally releasing updates to add new features and improvements! Please feel free to download the latest version and try them out for yourself. Enjoy!!! :]

general info:

there are 6 (2 new!) fonts in this family available for download:

  • Distype Serif: A more formal and detailed pixel font, with serifs.
  • Distype Sans: A sans-serif, more casual pixel font.
  • Distype Hyperbold: A pixel font designed to be as bold as possible while still being easily legible.
  • Distype Seriphim: Be Not Afraid. (an experimental  variant of Distype Serif.)
  • Distype Mono: a monospace variant of Distype Serif, for all your non-stereo needs. (3.0 or newer)
  • Distype Blocky: An upgraded version of Hyperbold, redone to more accurately match my original artistic vision. Monospace square characters and stylized capitals. (3.0 or newer)

there is also a ZIP archive of each previous version of the font:

  • Distype1.0ZIP: The first version i uploaded here, includes all 4 fonts. 8/18/24
  • Distype2.0ZIP: Included support for accented characters such as á, ñ, etc. all 4 fonts, and the sprite sheets included. 8/19/24
  • Distype2.1ZIP: Minor aesthetic tweaks, and a rehaul of the numbers to more accurately match "oldstyle figures". 8/21/24
  • Distype 3.0ZIP: adjustments to the accented characters, and 2 new fonts (Mono and Blocky) added. 9/9/24

the most recent version includes every character and symbol on a standard American QWERTY keyboard, as well as grave, acute, circumflex, and umlaut versions of each vowel, and tilde versions of n, a and o. if there are more characters you would like me to add, pls let me know and i will consider adding them! also, this font works best when the size is divisible by eight (8, 24, 72, etc). this varies by software though, so just try things out and see what works.

font use:

these fonts are FREE TO USE FOR ANY OF YOUR PROJECTS! if you would like to credit me, though, you can link to my YT channel (@dystdotmp4), this itch page, or my tumblr blog (@dyst-arts), whichever you prefer.  also, if you use these fonts for any of your projects, big or small, please let me know, id love to see it!!!

Also, if you try these fonts out and think theyre worth a dollar or two, then a donation would be greatly appreciated!! I'm struggling to afford some of the things I need for college, and even a small donation would be a huge help.

If you try these fonts and end up not liking them, or if you find any issues with them, then please let me know! This is my first time making a font, and also my first time publishing with itch.io, so if you bring a problem to my attention then i will try to address it ASAP!

These fonts are cute! It looks like 8 pt. font size (and multiples thereof) works best.

these are very good, but the letters in the Sans v2 pack all seem to be lower than they should be

could you give me a few more details on the issue? im not seeing anything obviously wrong on my end.
